GOOD RESULTS vs BAD RESULTS

Let's talk about a bitter truth.
I've been a personal trainer for almost 4 years now. I tend to specialize in people with body composition goals & strength training. I've trained a good number of people both in personal and now more recently online. Unfortunately I haven't got the same results with them all (yes that's the truth).
As a personal trainer you need to understand that you won't be able to help everyone get their results they are after. Looking back when I first started I definitely could have done things better my end. However, poor results usually occur because people don't help themselves.
- Consistency is one of the biggest factors. The people that show up, rarely missing any session, almost always do well. The ones that regularly flake out for various reasons tend to struggle. Frequently missing session will mess up your trainers plan of action for you and it will impact your results. The hardest part for a client and coach (for body composition goals in particular) is keeping the diet in check. At the end of the day I won't be there to bitch slap that pizza out of your hand because it doesn't fit in with your calorie targets. The clients that take responsibility, investing time into getting their diet right and keeping their calories in check will get results. 💯
- Work ethic
You really get to know the character of an individual when you train them. Everybody has varied levels of fitness and strength which is fine. We all start somewhere. However the ones that can push a little bit harder for the majority of time, win! More recently online training is becoming more popular and coaches would usually like their clients to check-in at least once a week so they know how the training / diet has gone.
From my experience the ones that check-in on time every week, ask questions and give you the most honest and detailed check-in get the results they are after.
If you're a client, audit yourself using the above points and fix any problems your end.
